ASIA ECONOMICS: Asian Shares Finish Higher on Monday

Stock markets across the Asia-Pacific region closed in the green on Monday, as investors were optimistic about next steps in the trade talks between the U.S. and China, after news that U.S. President Trump and Xi Jinping are planning a meeting on February 27-28 in Vietnam, Trading Economics reported. Trump said: “I think when Xi and I meet, every point will be agreed to.” The Nikkei 225 rose 95 points, or 0.5% to 20,884; the Hang Seng gained 59 points, or 0.2% to 27,990; and the ASX 200 advanced 28 points or 0.5% to 5,891. Markets in China and South Korea were closed due to public holidays.
