European ADRs Move Higher in Friday Trading

American depository receipts of European stocks were trading slightly higher at 123.23 on the Bank of New York Mellon Europe ADR Index on Friday.

In continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech firm Zealand Pharma ( ZEAL ) and software company Talend ( TLND ), which climbed 6.4% and 5.6% respectively. They were followed by pharmaceutical company Oasmia Pharmaceutical ( OASM ) and oil and gas company Eni ( E ), which rose 3.9% and 3.4%.

The decliners in continental Europe were led by kidney dialysis company Fresenius Medical Care ( FMS ), which fell 9.3%, followed by internet browser company Opera (OPRA), biotech firm ERYTECH Pharma (ERYP), and medical equipment company Edap (EDAP), which lost 2.2%, 1.8%, and 1.5% respectively.

In the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical firm GW Pharmaceuticals (GWPH) and medical equipment maker Smith & Nephew (SNN), which rose 2.6% and 2.4% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics (AKTX), and construction materials supplier CRH (CRH), which were up 2% and 1.5%.

The decliners in the UK and Ireland were led in part by airline operator Ryanair (RYAAY), biotech firm Shire (SHPG), and gene therapy company Nightstar (NITE), which were off 2.8%, 2.7%, and 2.1% respectively.
